As a strongly self-motivated and self-confident person, group work and collaboration does not always come easy for me, as somone who would often choose to go it alone, even if extra work is required, than involve onself with a larger team. However this unit has pushed me in unexpected ways to really appreciate the potential benefits of collaborative practice.
With the Cross Course Collaboration task, an unexpected problem caused the team to pull together in new ways, and caused the genesis of a new idea and direction which would probably have never existed otherwise.
LO7: I believe my work has demonstrated indepth understanding for a range of relevent applications for my induvidual work. These applications were chosen specifically due to their cohesiveness with my own artistic practice and ethos, and show conscientious awareness of exactly where I fit into the creative world. (Not just forcing myself into gallery shows because it is what I feel I 'should' do as an artist, and instead choosing opportunities which actually speak to me.) As well as this I have showed indepth awareness of my workplace through ongoing collaborations with Frazer Bailey, and use of the Meistertask app to organise and plan efficient working.
LO8: One of the key interest of my practice is the careful presentation of research and findings. Because of the oppresive nature of the topic, finding ways to present negative situations in a way which is blameless and provides avenues for improvement and hope is something of the upmost importance. This was put the the test with my work for the JIC, when I had to pay very careful attention to exactly how I was presenting my own ideas and voice, directly back at the instituion I was critiquing! I had to ensure above all else my presentation of my argument was appropriate for the institution, and also safegaurded the essential nature of arts/science collaborations!
As well as this I believe I delivered my presentation of collaborative outcomes very effectively.
LO9: I believe in this unit I have strongly evidenced my ability to develop new skills related to my practice. I have done this through my collaborative work, further developing my tissue paper pasteups. This is of high importance to my practice as I like to forgo environmentally harmful methods in the creation of my artworks, and therefore spraypaint is not an option. This method however emulates the appearence of spraypaint, and therefore I think could be an entirely new are to develop into which could expand my practice further still.
As well as this I have vastly expanded my skills in website management through my work with Moosey which, while not being essential to my artistic practice currently, will undoubtedly come to be of great vocational benefit someday.
LO10: I believe I have demonstrated substantial evidence of myself being able to work collaboratively towards a specified goal. In one instance I have demonstrated this through my Cross Course Collaboration and JIC work. But also most essentially in my ongoing work with Moosey Art, which is constantly required to meet ongoing deadlines for new releases and areas of the website. I have many rolling responsibilities with the company, which requires the constant meeting of goals and deadlines. This is all boosted along via the Meistertask App.
