For Upfest I wanted to create an image to go on some apparel, either a printed t shirt or sticker design which I could take as a fresh piece to the show. After researching the importance of elephants and China's pledge to cease their legal ivory trade this year
[link] I thought it could be an interesting piece to commemorate this momentous success for conservation efforts in Africa. I also have done research into Chinese art
[link] and thought this could be a good place to combine both new and old elements of my contextual research. In previous outcomes exploring the Chinese arts style I was heavily inspired by the Shui-Mo watercolour painting style to create my first halftone screen prints
[link], so for this work I thought I could take some inspiration from the other catagory, Gong-bi, or 'meticulous' paintings, which represent exaggerated likenesses insead of loose watercolour styles.

I created the piece onto a large piece of paper, and the took a high quality photograph, then edited this into photoshop to turn my work into a graphic suitable for t shirt transfer.
