The day before I went in to prepare my colour seperations so that they would be ready on a screen for this workshop. This time I took care to change all the images evenly so that all of the colours would be increased proportionately after learning this from last weeks session.Working around the quadruple A3 screen was difficult as it was almost bigger than me! However once I had gotten it locked into place I actually found the larger flood areas easier to control and keep working cleanly than I had on smaller screens previously.

14/03/2017 - SKILLS 3 WEEK 2 - CMYK
I was really interested to learn this week about the ability to split colour channels on photoshop. I had not known how to do this previously and was surprised to learn there was a single button that could split an image down into induvidual cyan, magenta, yellow and key layers, and that as these images were bitmap, they also didn't need to be in halftone. Only a small tinkering with contrast was required to strengthen up the colours before my design could be printed onto drafting film. (see right)Sunday, 12 March 2017
12/03/2017 - CMYK PRINT DESIGN
In preperation for our second screenprinting session we were instructed to prepare a work for CMYK Full Colour Screenprinting. Carl made a point of also saying to choose an image for it's properties in print, not simply because we wanted to create a full colour copy of an image we had already made. I considered this advice and tried to plan in response to this.

8/03/2017 - BEES SCREENPRINT
I went back into the screenprinting workshop after our taught session to print more copies of my bee design. I used newsprint for it's thinness, because in wheatpasting this is a useful feature which allows the paper to grip better against a rough wall surface. I also liked the off white colour and as Carl said, anything printed onto newsprint takes on an automatically political quality.

7/03/2017 - SKILLS 3 WEEK 1 - HALF TONE
In the first week of our Skill 3 workshops we learnt about using a halftone image to create tonal range with a screen. I had already inadvertently jumped ahead of myself by using a halftone for my Skills 2 Print workshop, so was already well versed in both round and line halftone and it's use and effectiveness.

1/03/2017 - SCREENPRINT IDEAS PREP
For the start of my SKILLS3 PRINT unit I wanted to continue as I had begun thus far, by preparing subject matter specifically for the task. After looking into bees and Colony Collapse Disorder; CLICK HERE I decided bees would be an interesting subject to base a body of work around. To test out some ideas for image composition I used photoshop to create simple photo collages and get an idea of where to begin and what looks right.
