Title of Work

“Surface Tensions”
|
|
How this work relates to the theme of ‘Everything wrong
with the world’
|
Relates to how mankind makes major changes to the worlds
surface without recognizing the consequences and knock on effects that may be
happening elsewhere/in concealed other areas of the world. Instead of
experiencing just the human cultural ‘surface world’, in this piece we are
invited to pull back the curtain and take a peak into a universe beyond the
industrial.

Description of Work
|
A cross section of ocean showing an oil rig and oceanic
locomotion in the small above water section, but also illustrating the
multitude of life going on below. The partition between above and below water
is suggestive of how different systems can operate seemingly separately,
however ultimately everything is still connected within a single community.
The work will also explore archival/institutional themes, museums
and botanical displays and the pedagogy associated with these places by
conjuring up the appearance of a display vitrine. This causes viewers to
speculate about the way we process and package ‘truth’ and how awareness is
only subjective based on the institution which provides it.
